Let’s go to the 2021 vintage review.

Donne Fittipaldi is a modern winery. Since 2004, it cultivates some of the great international Bordeaux vines, in Bolgheri, in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, in the province of Livorno, in the heart of the D.O.C. Bolgheri. The winery is led by Maria Menarini Fittipaldi with her four daughters.

Donne Fittipaldi has decided to focus on a limited production, aimed at obtaining the highest possible quality at every stage of the process of cultivation of the vine and of the wine production. In the 9 hectares of the vineyards of the winery are obtained grapes at the base of the 6 labels that characterize the production of Donne Fittipaldi wines: the iconic Bolgheri Rosso D.O.C., Bolgheri Rosso Superiore D.O.C., Bolgheri Rosso Cabernet Franc "Magnetic", Orpicchio (Tuscan variety) "Lady F", Malbec "Malaroja" and a very original rosé-sparkling interpretation of this grape.

Bolgheri Rosso D.O.C. is the most typical and representative wine of the winery. The composition of this blend is as follows: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Malbec. The grapes are harvested by hand and then subjected to fermentation with maceration, with must-skins contact for about 15 days. Before being put on the market, it ages for 12 months in barriques.

Now it’s time for the taste!

Bolgheri Rosso D.O.C. Donne Fittipaldi 2021 is an intense ruby red with garnet reflections. The bouquet of aromas is characterized by fruity notes, cherry, black cherry and black currant, accompanied by light spicy and vinous sensations. The taste is really amazing. Despite an important structure and alcohol content (14.5% vol.!), we perceive sensations of freshness and pleasantness. The pleasantness of the sip is also determined by a caressing softness, thanks to silky tannins.

This red wine is perfect with red meat, but, for its freshness, can accompany tasty and important fish dishes, especially those typical of local cuisine, cacciucco alla livornese, for example!
