The municipalities are: Bardolino, Garda, Lazise, Affi, Costermano, Cavaion Veronese, Torri del Benaco, Caprino Veronese, Rivoli Veronese, Pastrengo, Bussolengo, Sona, Sommacampagna, Castelnuovo del Garda, Peschiera del Garda and Valeggio sul Mincio.

The grapes for wines with the Classico mention must be grown in specific areas within the municipalities of Bardolino, Garda, Lazise, Affi, Costermano and Cavaion, the traditional areas of Bardolino.

Chiaretto's father was Pompeo Molmenti. Molmenti was a truly eclectic and versatile person, well known in the Verona area. He was a senator, lawyer, writer and winemaker. In 1896, returning from a training trip to France, where he learned and deepened some winemaking techniques, Molmenti experimented with the rosé vinification of local black grapes. From here the Chiaretto was born.
