White wine, with an intense aroma and freshness, produced in the Salemi area in western Sicily. It is obtained from pure Viognier grapes. The color is straw yellow with greenish reflections. The nose has strong floral notes, reminiscent of acacia and lemon flowers, which are accompanied by warm notes of peach and citrus peel. In the mouth it is dry, fresh and savory. Contains sulphites. Produced by Cantine Colosi S.r.l. - Dir. Viaria C. Fraz. Giammoro - 98042, Pace Del Mela (ME) - Italy.
The producer
Colosi is a company that has been operating in the wine field for four generations. The cellar is managed by the oenologist Pietro Colosi who follows the various steps, from winemaking to refinement and from bottling to marketing the wines. For many years the company has been involved in the production of the ancient Malvasia delle Lipari wine. The company covers an area of ten hectares in Salina (a small island that is part of the Aeolian archipelago) between Capo Faro and Porri. This area is recognized as one of the best on the island both for its exposure and for the chemical-physical nature of the soil which, being of volcanic origin, is particularly suitable for the cultivation of vines. The planting of the vineyard, made particularly difficult due to the morphology of the soil, was carried out in terraces restoring the old dry stone walls. The company produces other typical wines in the areas of Marsala and Salemi in western Sicily.
Best with
Excellent with fish carpaccio, sushi, fresh goat cheeses and risotto.
How to serve it
Serve at 8-10 degrees centigrade in transparent, smooth and colorless crystal glass goblets.
How to keep
It is not an aging wine, therefore it should be drunk within two, three years at most from the purchase. The bottles should be stored lying horizontally in a cool, humid and dark wine-cellar.
