This white D.O.C.G. wine has its origins in the careful and exclusive selection of Vernaccia variety grapes, grown on hillsides in the administrative area of San Gimignano. It is an unladen straw-yellow colour with a light gold reflection. It has a characteristic aroma that is strong with a hint of meadow flowers, and a dry, well-balanced taste with a bitterish aftertaste. Contains sulphites. Produced by CASA ALLE VACCHE - Localita' Lucignano, 73/a - San Gimignano (Siena) - Italy.

The producer

Casa alle Vacche is a rural company situated in Lucignano (Pancole) in the administrative area of San Gimignano, an area particularly given to the cultivation of grapevines. The twenty five hectares of vines are lovingly cared for by the Ciappi family and high quality fruit are gathered from an area that is fortunately blessed with good soil and an excellent southerly exposure. The grapes are converted into wine with such skill as to merit the distinction D.O.C.G., as does this Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

Best with

This wine lends itself to dishes based on molluscs, shellfish, fish, risotto with vegetables, and to soft cheeses.

How to serve it

The wine should be served at 12 degrees centigrade in clear, transparent crystal goblets.

How to keep

Owing to its structure this is one of the few white wines that is capable of undergoing a brief period of ageing to a maximum of three to four years.

Quality
It smells of wildflowers and it has a slightly bitter finish. Excellent on the palate, it is dry, with excellent structure, well balanced with fresh and mineral sensations. (Posted on 9/29/2023)
