This wine is strongly influenced by the proximity to the sea and the alluvial characteristics of the soil. Land and sea breezes along with a modern drip irrigation system grant the best conditions to a successful organic farming practice as well as to a long and slow ripening of the fruit developing an elegant and complex bouquet. The legacy tells that the Vermentino to develop its typical flavours of fresh fruit it has to overlook the sea. It has a bright yellow color. A floral nose with hints of white peaches, pineapple and apples. It is a fresh and elegant wine with good structure and a persistent aftertaste of yellow fruit. Contains sulphites. Produced by FATTORIA CASTELLO DI VOLPAIA DI GIOVANNA STIANTI - Loc. Volpaia - 53017, Radda in Chianti (SI) - Italy.
The producer
Prelius is the estate of Federica Mascheroni Stianti from the family owner of the Castello di Volpaia. Prelius is the name given by the Romans to the ancient costal lake of Prile. Already with the Etruscans the land surrounding the lake was a flourishing community dedicated to the commerce of salt and to fishing. The costal lake used to lay from Castiglione della Pescaia to the Argentario peninsula, separated from the sea by a sandy strip that is now the marvelous pine-wood of Grosseto. Prile, where the vineyards are located, is two miles away from Castiglione della Pescaia along the slopes of the hilly amphitheater surrounding the ancient lake. The vineyards are on the south southwest slopes at an average altitude of fifty meters above the sea level. They are all irrigated with a drip system and grown with organic farming practices.
