Contemporary interpretation of a Sangiovese-based wine with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon of the Chianti Classico area. Vinification takes place in steel. This is followed by a period of about eight months in vitrified concrete tanks. The wine matures in tonneaux for about 36 months. It has a characteristic deep red colour, with attractive notes of plum, liquorice, freshly-mowed grass and ripe cherry that emerge in the nose and are accompanied by black pepper and vanilla in the mouth. An intriguing wine, with great structure and personality. a wine for great gastronomic pairings but also for meditation. Contains sulphites. Produced by Piemaggio Società Agricola - Località Le Fioraie, 2 - 53011, Castellina in Chianti (SI) - Italy.
The producer
Piemaggio is one of the historical Chianti Classico estates. The oldest part dates back to the 12th century. The estate’s 12 hectares of vineyards are in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti, in the Le Fioraie area, at an altitude between 380 and 420 metres above sea level. The soil is that typical of the Chianti Classico of this area, distinguished by a strong component of Galestro and Alberese clay, guaranteeing good drainage of the vineyards. All Piemaggio wines are characterised by excellent elegance and structure without forgetting the easy drinkability typical of Sangiovese.
