THE REVIEW OF CARTIZZE CANTINA PRODUTTORI DI VALDOBBIADENE BY LUCA STROPPA
The producer
Cantina Produttori di Valdobbiadene is situated in the foothills of the Veneto Alps on hillsides squeezed between Asolo and Conegliano. It was formed in 1952 out of the desire of a handful of wine-makers who were determined to sustain quality. 80% of production is based on the native Glera vine, in an area where it reaches an excellent level of quality. Cantina Produttori di Valdobbiadene has great experience of the cultivation of the vines, experience which has been passed on from generation to generation. Careful selection is made at the moment of harvest, and modern wine-making techniques are used. Yet, perhaps above all, it is genuine enthusiasm that makes Cantina Produttori di Valdobbiadene a point of reference for those appreciative of Prosecco.
Best with
This wine is excellent as an aperitif and goes very well with sweets.
How to serve it
In order to appreciate this wine at its best the bottle should be taken out of the cellar and immersed for about half an hour in an ice bucket. The ideal temperature to drink this wine is 6 - 8 degrees centigrade. The bottle should be carefully uncorked making sure the wine does not gush out. The best glasses to use are clear, transparent crystal cup-like goblets.
How to keep
Like all spumanti this isn't a wine that should be aged and is best drunk within one or two years of purchase at the latest. The bottles should be laid horizontally in a cool, dark, humid wine-cellar.
